Normally the last thing you want to do is drop a stitch. Well, with this lacy scarf that's exactly what you'll do! Dropping a stitch is harder than you may think, it takes awhile to work the stitches out all the way down the scarf. This technique creates a beautiful ladder all the way through the scarf giving it an almost woven look.

Use this technique for anything from knitted curtains to let a bit of light through. Or to jazz up a plain stockinette stitch sweater, you can even drop the stitch different lengths down the sweater to create a design (at the end of the 'run' just sew it with matching thread to keep it from running further).

You will need:
500 Yards of
for the main scarf
for binding off, or just bind off very loosely
9 Locking Stitch Markers

Basic Skills You Will Use:
Knit, Purl, Cast on, Bind off yarn over, slip one as if to purl, Pass slip stitch over last stitch

Gauge:
28 stitches = 4" Gauge is not all that important for this project.

Finished Measurements:
Before drop: 2" X 59" After drop: 4" X 62"

Recommended Yarns:
I recommend a yarn with a smooth finish for this pattern, what I DON'T recommend is using a hairy yarn or a yarn where the fibers grab at each other. That will make it very difficult for you to run your drop stitch.
